Employers often say they would become more involved in their apprentice’s training program if the training provider gave them better guidance and direction. Many apprentices also believe they are capable of completing their training more quickly than the normal duration, but they’re not given the opportunity to speed up their progress and complete the apprenticeship early.
We agree with both of these points. In response, we have developed a flexible program that is designed to focus the apprentice on aiming high and working hard to attain the outcomes set for them.
We want our apprentices to be proud of the opportunity they have been given to learn their skills at the peak flooring industry training provider in Australia, and to apply themselves with enthusiasm. We also want employers to have high expectations, and be willing to ‘push’ the apprentices to reach the highest levels of their potential.
Once the formal training program has been successfully completed, the
apprentice will still be required to work on-site under supervision for as long as
needed to enable the employer to sign off against all the performance criteria that relate to the workplace experience component. This time may vary depending on the variety of work being undertaken and the apprentice’s practical aptitude.
We recognise that not all apprentices will be able to complete the formal training component within the time frame. There could be several reasons for this, including the need for extra literacy support, a lack of experience in certain types of installation jobs, and family or personal issues. So there is provision for extending the delivery of training and assessment through the Academy, but additional fees may apply.
